Abstract
1,107,224. Tubular heat exchange apparatus. EMBASSY INDUSTRIES Inc. 2 Aug., 1966, No. 34683/66. Heading F4S. A fin tube unit 10 comprises a tube 11 having rectangular fins 12 secured thereto at spaced intervals therealong, and four resilient tracks 17 each extending along respective corner portions of the fins and being mechanically bonded thereto. The spacing of the fins is defined by collars 16. The tracks are fixed to the corners by an epoxy type binder or cement. In a second embodiment (Fig. 4) the fin corners are formed with diagonal slots and the tracks with a web, which is either cemented or friction fitted into the slots. In another embodiment (Fig. 6) the tracks have arcuate notches which friction fit into arcuate slots in the corners of the fins. In a final embodiment (Fig. 7) each side of the fin adjacent the corner is provided with a separate arcuate notch, into each of which a resilient cord is friction fitted. The unit 10 is supported on a wall 14 by a bracket 13.
