Abstract

1,107,061. Wells &c. JAMES S. ROBBINS & ASSOCIATES Inc. 16 June, 1965 [6 July, 1964], No. 25423/65. Heading E1F. In a tunnel frame formed by sections the joints between sections permit adjustment of the size of the frame. The joint shown is suitable for tunnels in rock, the slots 30 permitting the frame to be expanded to bear on the tunnel surface and the serrations 28 permitting the sections S to be fixed in the expanded position. In modifications suitable for tunnels in clay the parts of the joint have mating projections and channels extending parallel to the slots and co-operating parts limiting the contraction of the frame under pressure of the clay.
