Abstract

110,676. Richards, J. H., and Belling- ham, B. Jan. 24, 1917. Bearings and bearing- surfaces. - Relates to work-holders for use in boring half bearing- bushes and the like. A block 1, secured to a slide nut or table, has circular ends bored to receive the holder proper 6, which is secured by cam-shaped clamps 7 or other fastenins. The holder is of semicircular shape in the centre and has circular ends to fit the block 1. The half bearing 10 is secured against an adjustable stop 13 bv cam-shaped clamps 16 carried by brackets 14 on the other side of the holder. The block 1 has a bearing at one end for the boring-bar 4. and may have a micrometer gauge 21 for the adjustment of the two cutters 19, which project on opposite sides of the bar. When two half bushes are to be bored together, the lower one 23, Fig. 5, is secured by wedges 24 or the like. In a modification, Fig. 6, the half bush 10 is secured bv a screw in a piece 26 which can be adjusted laterally by screws to bore the bush to any desired amount of eccentricity. Either the bar or the work may be traversed.
