Abstract
1,106,319. Automatic exchange systems. SIEMENS A.G. 21 July, 1966 [22 July, 1965], No. 32802/66. Heading H4K. Connections over a multi-stage matrix switching network are set up by a marker which selects idle links according to preferred sequences of choice which sequences are varied from time to time to equalize traffic distribution, the schedule of sequences in force being exploited by a test routiner to identify the co-ordinates of routes for testing. The routiner may demand any particular order of choice for tests and may switch from one order to another when a demand for a connection finds a link busy at the first order of choice. The routiner preferably gets access to the network at that stage having the fewest links. Where 400 subscribers are concentrated to 100 junctions the routiner would connect with the junctions and a test connection would extend from one junction to a subscriber's inlet and back from that inlet to a second junction. The identity of links which are not available for test at the indicated order of choice, due to use in normal connections, is recorded so that the routiner can return to a test of the links at a later time.
