Abstract

1,105,851. Manipulators. CENTRAL RESEARCH LABORATORIES Inc. 1 March, 1966, No. 8965/66. Heading B4Q. A master-slave manipulator having many of the features disclosed in Specifications 815,516, 815,515 and intended for use in cells where head room is limited is characterized in that the slave arm 52 includes an intermediate tube 59A slidable relatively to the trunk tube 59 and boom tube 60, the tape and pulley Z-motion transmission system between the master and slave arms being such that the combined extension of the tubes 59A, 60 equals the extension of the master boom tube 57. Rotation of the boom tube 57 about its longitudinal axis causes the tubes 59A, 60 to rotate conjointly through a similar angle. A detailed construction of the manipulator is described with reference to Figs. 2-38 (not shown).
