The take up chamber 6 of a photographic camera is provided with a guiding edge 8 and a spring 9 which initiate the rolling up motion of an exposed film, which is wound back into a supply cartridge 2 after it has been completely exposed. The chamber 6 is large enough, and the edge 8 and spring 9 so positioned, that a take up cartridge may be used, in which case the film is not wound back after exposure.
