Abstract
1,105,486. Frequency changing. L. E. SQUIRE. 7 Dec., 1964 [18 Sept., 1963], No. 36689/63. Heading H2F. Poly-phase third harmonic currents are generated in a circuit comprising two threephase transformers whose primaries, which are connected in parallel to a supply, are so arranged that the fluxes in the cores are displaced by 30 degrees (or an odd multiple thereof) if two phase third harmonic output is required, or by 40 degrees (or a multiple thereof) if three phase output is required, and the secondary windings of each transformer are connected is open delta so that the third harmonic voltages are added and the fundamental voltages cancel. Alternatively, to obtain a three phase output, the two phase arrangement above may be used with the secondaries in Scott connection to give three phases. The ninth harmonic may be obtained by cascading two such circuits. Both primaries may effect some phase displacement (e.g. n degrees and (30-n) degrees). Four phases may be obtained.
