Abstract

A cathodoluminescent screen, particularly for a storage cathode-ray tube in which the luminescent material also stores the charge pattern, consists of zinc silicate activated by manganese, the ration ZnO/SiO2 being in the range 1.50 to 1.82, e.g. 1.60. Higher ratios, up to 2.06 are mentioned as not suitable. Insulating materials such as MgO, Al2O3, CaF2 or talc may be added to reduce the already low conductivity.
