Abstract
1,104,370. Bowling alleys. H. LINNEMANN. 3 Nov., 1965 [3 Nov., 1964], No. 46664/65. Heading A6D. A bowling alley installation appropriate to the game of pin bowling comprises means for separating spent king pins from the remaining spent pins and for spotting them separately on the playing deck of the alley. All spent pins and bowls are swept from the playing deck 1 by sweeper mechanisms 3 on to conveyor 4 which is downwardly inclined opposite the conveying direction 18 to a bowl delivery opening 19 in the wall of the bin for the collection of bowls swept onto the conveyor and which transfers the pins via conveyor 6, and a device 8 for standing the pins in a vertical position, to a further conveyor 9 having two branches 34, 35, the section 36 of the conveyor being automatically tilted by a king pin to transfer the latter on to branch 35, whilst other pins travel along branch 34. The tilting can be effected mechanically or electrically, and is initiated by the larger king pins operating a switch or trip mechanism which is by-passed by the remaining, smaller pins. The two groups of pins are then elevated to separate stores 13, 14, from whence they are transferred by tiltable sections 43 to distributor conveyors 15 into pin setter mechanism 16 for setting in any desired formation on the pin location area.
