A lug comprises a strip of sheet metal which is bent to provide two converging limbs 30, 31, one limb 31 being bent convexly, the limb 31 is introduced into a slot 34 in a tubular portion 19 of a chair or other article of furniture so that the curved limb lies adjacent the inner surface of the tubular portion and the edge of the slot of the tubular portion is gripped between the two limbs 30. 31. A seat or back rest is secured to a hole 33 and the limb 30 of each lug.
