Abstract

110,343. Mohs, K. Oct. 12, 1916, [Convention date]. Liquids, treating with. - In fulling fabrics, a solution of organic-inorganic colloids, obtained in solid form, is added to the bath. The colloidal compound is obtained by the action of a solution of potassium carbonate on a mash of various lichens, seaweeds, and other plants, such as eucheuma and gelidium (Indian seaweeds), lycoperdon solidum, cetraria islandica (Iceland moss), porphyra vulgaris (Japanese seaweed), sclerotium cocos or gigantium, gum tragacanth, the astraglus species, linseed, and semen plantago poyllii L. An extract or infusion liquid is obtained and is evaporated in vacuo with the addition of an inorganic colloid such as silicic acid, toform a powder colloidably soluble in water.
