Abstract
<PICT:1103430/C1/1> In the manufacture of glass sheet by drawing molten glass upwardly from a bath and feeding it horizontally to an annealing lehr, the forward and return currents of glass in the melting and refining zones of the glass tank 9 are arranged to flow freely into and out of the drawing zone, e.g. by increasing the depth of the drawing zone to that of the melting zone, and the glass passes by way of an enclosed drawing chamber through a restricted opening to the horizontal lehr. The opening may be between a screen 22 and a depending, preferably flexible, curtain 23. Cold air currents in the drawing chamber are thus minimized.
