Abstract

A goods vehicle comprises a body 1, Fig. 1, closable by hinged doors 8 on which is mounted for vertical movement a platform 9, the body having a floor incorporating a plurality of plattens 2 which are movable longitudinally of the body to move goods towards and away from said platform. The plattens 2 have rollers 3 running in guide channels 4, and a poweroperated winch 5 is provided having a cable 6 attached to the foremost platten which includes a vertical front wall 7 with side stays to retain stacked goods in position when the plattens are moved. The platform 9 is pivotally secured to rods 10 which are slidably mounted in guides 11 and are attached to cables 12 extending over pulleys 13 from drums 14, the latter being driven through chain drives 17 and friction wheels 16 by a handle 15. One of the wheels 16 is mounted on the vehicle chassis and the other on one of the doors so that they interengage when the door is open and aligned with the body side wall. The wheels 16 may be replaced by gear-wheels. When not in use the platform 9 is folded upwardly to lie vertically adjacent one of the doors, it being retained in this position by a bolt or catch. The platform may be detachable or mounted on one door only, and it may be actuated by an electric motor. The plattens may extend across only part of the vehicle width to provide lateral stacking space for goods moved inwardly of the vehicle on the plattens.
