Abstract

A feed for pigs or poultry comprises 10% to 50% of a protein supplying the essential amino acids and from 1% to 20% of urea, buiret, an ammonium salt of an organic carboxylic acid, ammonium carbonate or an ammonium phosphate. The preferred source of amino acids is yeast, including hydrolysed yeast, but other sources specified are fungi, algae, soya bean oil meal, and leaf proteins. In the examples urea, yeast or hydrolysed yeast, and molasses together with mineral and vitamin supplements are fed to pigs and poultry as liquid or paste feeds, or mixed with barley meal as a dry feed.
