Abstract
110,140. Jopson, W. G. Aug. 4, 1917. Unwinding-machines.-In removing yarns from bobbins, the bobbins are arranged in a magazine comprising grooved bars 53, 54 and are fed singly to holders 10, 11 in which they are clamped and rotated. The yarn is sucked down a pipe 12 into a chamber 45. The feed apparatus for the bobbins comprises bars 58, 59 rigidly connected together by pins 64, and provided with recesses 61, 62. This apparatus, by means of a cam 69, cam lever 68, arm 66, and spring 72, is rocked, and at each operation of the cam releases one bobbin, which falls on to a pair of arms 73, which are mounted on a shaft 67 and raised into position by the same cam. Meanwhile a cam 31 engaging a projection 30 on a sleeve 18 has opened the holder 10, 11 to receive the bobbin a, and when the bobbin is properly alined, a spring 33 moves back the jaw 10 to grip the bobbin. The bars 53, 54 may be adjusted to accommodate the different lengths of bobbins which may be treated, and the bars 58, 59 are each provided with an extra tooth 62<x> so that the lowest bobbin is supported with its axis horizontal. The holders 10, 11 are coned at 15 to accommodate bobbins of different diameters, and the sleeve 20 is fixed by a screw 22, while the sleeve 18 is free to reciprocate under the action of the cam 31 but is prevented from rotating by means of a plate 28 mounted in the sleeve and threaded on a pin 29 carried by the fixture 79. The chamber 45 may be connected to the ordinary suction conduit of the mill, or a fan blower 40 may be provided. The holder 11 is mounted by means of ball bearings in the sleeve 20.
