Abstract

1,100,886. Pulse modulation circuits. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 26 Aug., 1966 [8 Sept., 1965], No. 38455/65. Heading H4L. The repetition frequency of the output of a known type of emitter coupled multivibrator 1, 2 is modulated by a signal 11 applied via a diode 10 to the timing capacitor 3. The diode 10 is reverse biased for the major portion of each cycle, but at the time when the emitter of transistor 1 goes positive the diode conducts and transfers charge from the storage capacitor 12 to the capacitor 3. Consequently the charging period of capacitor 3 is reduced and the repetition frequency of the output signal at 7 increased.
