Abstract

1,100,551. Dividing and moulding dough. BAKER PERKINS Ltd. 21 Jan., 1965 [22 Jan., 1964], No. 2740/64. Heading B5A. Dough from a divider 1 passes via a vibrated inclined or vertical shoot 3 to an intermittently moving conveyer 2, the latter receiving transverse rows of dough lumps from the shoot which are subsequently worked upon by a series of transversely disposed moulding rings 43, Fig. 1 (not shown), attached to a gyratory frame 5. The shoot 3 is vibrated, e.g. at a rate of 650 v.p.m. of amplitude <SP>3</SP>/ 16 inch, by a motor 12 via an eccentric 10, link 11, shaft 9 and arm 8b and the shoot is divided into compartments 7 diverging from the inlet to the outlet end thereof, Fig. 3 (not shown). A felt-covered roller 13 positioned at the outlet of shoot 3 is linked to the drive of conveyer 2 and secures an accurate transverse alignment of each row of dough lumps and positive location thereof by nipping the lumps between itself and the conveyer. Bars 42, which carry the rings 43, are adjustably mounted on the frame 5, the longitudinally extending members 22 thereof being journally mounted by means of stub-shafts 38, 39 on supports 23, 24 vertically reciprocated by bellcranks 25, 26. The supports 23, 24 as well as moving vertically are continuously rotated and the stub-shafts 38, 39 are arranged to lie offset from the axes of rotation of supports 23, 24 when the latter are in their lowermost position so that a gyratory motion is then applied to frame 5. The longitudinal distances between the bars 42 and between the shoot 3 and the adjacent bar 42 are multiples of the distance moved at each step-wise movement of conveyer 2, the disposition of the bars depending on the type of dough being employed. For example, a " hard roll " dough preferably requires a " recovery " period between each moulding operation and in a specific example the distances between the shoot 3 and five bars 42 are equivalent to 4, 3, 2, 5, 3 step-wise movements of the conveyer respectively.
