Chemical reagents in test tubes 1 mounted in an electrically conductive rack 2, e.g. of A1 or Cu, are heated by passing the rack 2 in front of a magnetic core 4 carrying A.C. windings 5, 6 so as to induce a current therein. Cooling flanges 9 are provided.
