A desk lamp comprises a lamp holder carried by a stem mounted asymmetrically on a base, the major portion of which can be inserted between the underside of a standard typewriter chassis and the supporting surface of a desk so that the stem is adjacent the rear of the typewriter and the lamp overhangs the typewriter. The top part of the stem may be adjustable and may carry a strip lamp in a channel shaped reflector. The base may be rectangular and tapered from front to rear.
