Abstract
The invention comprises O,O-dimethyl-S-(1-succinimidoethyl) -phosphorodithioate, which is useful as a pesticide (see Division A5). It is prepared by reacting N-vinyl succinimide and O,O-dimethyl dithiophosphoric acid or by reacting N-a -chloroethyl succinimide and O,O-dimethyl dithiophosphoric acid, or a salt thereof, e.g. its ammonium salt, preferably at a temperature of 25-120 DEG C.ALSO:Insecticidal compositions contain as a toxicant o,o-dimethyl-s-(1-succinimidoethyl)phosphorodithioate. The composition is preferably used in the form of a dust or an aqueous emulsion. In the case of dusts, a dust concentrate of the toxicant may be diluted with a solid non-volatile adjuvants such as clays, Fullers earth, diatomaceous earth, rosin, petroleum hydrocarbons and insoluble pine wood resins. Wetting agents may also be present. Aqueous emulsions may be formed from liquid concentrates of toxicant with non-volatile or volatile adjuvants and surface active dispersing agents. Suitable liquid adjuvants are petroleum oils, paraffin oils, rosin oils, toluene, benzene, xylenes, volatile petroleum fractions, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone and diacetone alcohol.
