Abstract

109,799. Akt-Ges. Brown, Boveri, et Cie. Aug. 21, 1916, [Convention date]. Systems for continuous-current motors only.-The load on two or more parallel connected direct-current units is distributed uniformly by means of separate regulators which are controlled by currents pro. duced by the differential units. Three direct-current generators g<1>, g<2>, g<3> are shown in Fig. 1 connected to bus bars through resistances n<1>, n<2>, n<3> and their field circuits include resistances r<1>, r<2>, r<3>, controlled by quick action regulators with rolling contacts. The torque produced by the regulator windings is balanced by a weight p. Additional windings st<1>, st<2>, st<3>, are connected between the inner terminals of the resistances n<1>, n<2>, n<3>, respectively and a common point. If the distribution of the load is altered by the variation of the current in one generator, the current flows through the additional winding of its regulator in one direction and through the other additional windings in the other direction. The three regulators thus act to restore the load balance. In a modification, only one regulator is responsive to the voltage and the others have permanent magnets. The load taken by a number of motors may be distributed between them by regulators acting in the same way. Specifications 15035/06 and 27069/12 are referred to.
