When the boom 1 of a tower-crane is raised from a folded position, guides 2 slide along blocks 3 which are pivoted on the top of the tower, at or close to the longitudinal axis of the tower, and the boom rolls over rollers 8. This sliding motion continues until the fully erected condition, Fig. 3 (not shown), is reached.
