Abstract

1,095,969. Inflated ball. W. J. VOIT RUBBER CORPORATION. Oct. 25, 1966 [Nov. 24, 1965], No. 47786/66. Heading A6D. A ball (e.g. a basket ball 10) comprises an inflated bladder 12 to which is bonded an elastomeric cover 14 containing seam-simulating outwardly disposed ridges 18 and adjacent raised portions 32 merging smoothly with the main portions 36 of panels 20 defined by the ridges. In general, the panel surfaces intermediate the raised portions define a symmetrical surface of revolution which may be spherical (as shown) or ellipsoidal. Pebbled embossings 22 are optional. Preferably, ridges 18 have a centrally depressed top surface 24 and straight side walls 26 joined by rounded edges. The cover may have an embedded fibrous reinforcing layer adjacent the bladder.
