Abstract
1,095,483. Hay-conditioners. DEERE & CO. March 29, 1966 [March 30, 1965], No. 13779/66. Heading A1F. [Also in Division F2] In a hay-conditioner, having a pair of contacting crop-crushing rollers at least one of which is fluted, the fluted roller comprises two semi-cylindrical halves, each of which has two radially-extending endmembers by which the two halves may be mounted on a shaft. The two halves are identical but are reversed end-for-end, the radial end-members being so spaced from their respective ends that they are adjacent when the roller-halves are juxtaposed. Each end-member contains a hollow bore 42, 44 enabling either a single shaft to be passed right through the roller or a pair of stub-shafts to be inserted into the ends, the shaft, or stub-shafts being secured in position by grub-screws. The roller-halves have staggered upstanding tabs 62, 68 along their terminal edges which ensure registration of the roller-halves.
