Abstract

1,095,343. Package tube. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. Jan. 29, 1965 [Jan. 29, 1964], No. 4043/65. Heading B8M. A frusto-conical perforated plastics tube 1 on which threads of a linear, macromolecular, polymer may be wound to be dyed has a height between 170 and 270 mm., a lower inside diameter of from 55 to 85 mm. and an upper inside diameter of 35 to 65 mm.; the threads are wound to form a cheese having convex end surfaces. The plastics material is preferably a polyolefine (polyethylene or polypropylene) dimensionally stable up to 140‹ C. Preferably the tube has a lower diameter of 71À5 mm., a taper of 3¢ degrees and an upper diameter of 50 mm.; the wall thickness is 1À0 to 4À0 mm. and the perforations, widening from interior to exterior, have a diameter 3 to 10 mm. The surface of the tube may have protuberances or grooves. A paper-like structure may be interposed between the windings and the tube. 600 to 1500 gm. of thread are wound in a cheese, the thread making 1À5 to 4À5 turns between the ends of the cheese and having an external hardness of 30 to 85 shore.
