Abstract
1,095,051. Mechanical garages. MANNHEIMER MASCHINENFABRIK MOHR & FEDERHAFF A.G. Jan. 14, 1965 [Jan. 15, 1964], No. 1770/65. Heading B8E. A transport trolley for moving vehicles in garages comprises devices extendible laterally of the body for engaging the vehicle wheels and common driving means for bodily propelling the trolley in opposite direction and for operating the wheel-engaging devices, the driving means being coupled to the trolley body and the wheel-engaging devices by means such that upon actuation of the driving means the trolley is propelled bodily through a predetermined distance whilst the wheel engaging devices remain unextended, and upon renewed or continued actuation of the driving means the devices are extended. In a first embodiment, Fig. 1, a trolley 1 is supported on wheels 2 and is laterally guided by rollers 3. Pivotally mounted arms 5 for engaging wheels 6, 6<SP>1</SP> of the vehicle and guide rails 10, 10<SP>1</SP> for aligning wheels 8, 81 are provided and the trolley is moved by cables 11, 11<SP>1</SP> connected to drive means (not shown) and to a rod 14 on the trolley, the rod having wedges 15, 16 for operating the arms 5 and the rails 10, 10<SP>1</SP> against springs 19, 20 during limited movement of the rod relative to the body of the trolley. The cables 11, 11<SP>1</SP> extend round rollers 25 to spring-loaded pegs 30, 31 engaging a linkage 32, 33 which is attached to a pivoted spring-loaded lever 35 in which is slidably mounted a spring-loaded locking pin 39 adapted to engage in a recess 41 or behind a shoulder 49 of the rod 14 to lock the latter in two alternative positions. A spring- loaded detent 43 retains the pin 39 in a retracted position, the detent being adapted to be withdrawn by engagement of a cam 47 on the rod 14 with a bell-crank lever 45, 46. The pin 39 is normally held extending within the recess 41 by the engagement of the lever 35 with a spring-loaded bolt 37. In operation the trolley is moved until the bolt 37 engages a fixed stop 50 to release the lever 35 for engagement behind the stop, the resultant movement of the lever 35 disengaging the pin 39 from the recess 41. Upon movement of the cables in the opposite direction the rod 14 is moved to pivot the arms 5, push out the rails 10, 10<SP>1</SP> and release the detent 43. The pin 39 slides along the rod 14 until it engages the shoulder 49, Fig. 2 (not shown). When the trolley is moved away from the stop 50 the force from the cable 11<SP>1</SP> is first transmitted through the linkage 32, 33 to disengage the lever 35 from the stop 50. A pivoted lever 35<SP>1</SP> and a bolt 37<SP>1</SP> similar to and interconnected mechanically or hydraulically with the lever 35 and the bolt 37, are provided at the opposite end of the trolley so that the latter can operate in either direction. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the arms 5 and the rails 10, 10<SP>1</SP> are operated hydraulically or pneumatically. In a third embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the trolley is driven by a motor 68 through a coupling 65. The motor 68 is also connected to a threaded spindle 69 engaging a nut 70 which has cones 72, 72<SP>1</SP> for engaging cones 73, 73<SP>1</SP> drivably connected to arms 80, 81<SP>1</SP> and rails 83, 83<SP>1</SP>. Switches 84, 84<SP>1</SP> are provided for disconnecting the coupling 65.
