Abstract

A cylindrical or planar pleated filter comprises spacers located within at least alternate pleats in which the spacers are formed from two substantially parallel series of spaced rods or filaments laid one upon the other at a mutual angular displacement of between about 5 DEG and 90 DEG and bonded or welded together at the intersections. The rods may be of foamed polystyrene, and be bonded together during the foaming process. The filter may be impregnated paper or felt.
