Abstract

1,093,099. Sheet-collating apparatus. N. M. MACKEN. Nov. 30, 1965 [Nov. 30, 1964], No. 50751/65. Headings B6B and B6H. A hand-operated sheet-collating apparatus comprises a number of sheet-holding compartments 2 each having associated therewith a member 19 carrying a friction head 24, the members 19 being operated simultaneously so that each head 24 moves in an arcuate path to cause one sheet from each compartment to project from the compartment ready for collection. The compartments are mounted on a Z-shaped frame 7 having an inturned part 10 to which a box-shaped member 13 is hinged at 12. The member 13 is urged upwardly against a stop 16 by a spring 14. A part 20 of each member 19 passes through apertures in the sides of the member and is retained by grommets 21. An operating treadle (30, Fig. 1) is attached by a chain 27 to a pin 17 at one end of the member 13. The head 24 comprises a rubber grommet rotatable on a rod 23 connected to the member 19 by a sleeve 25. The apparatus is intended to be supported on a desk, and two or more units may be employed by fitting the pin 17 of one unit into a socket at the end of the member 13 of an adjacent unit. By inserting rods through apertures 33 in the backs 3 of the compartments, smallersized sheets may be dealt with.
