Abstract
Ammoniated compounds are prepared by passing gaseous NH3 over the solid compound at room temperature and a pressure of, e.g., 100-125 lb/sq. inch. The compound may be HgSO4, AgCl, CuCl, CuCl2, HgCl or HgCl2. The ammoniated compound, e.g. HgSO4.2-6NH3, is allowed to lose some NH3, e.g. to form stable HgSO4.2NH3, by reducing the pressure to atmospheric.
