1,092,668. Calculating apparatus. BUCHUNGSMASCHINENWERK KARLMARX - STADT VEB. Aug. 4, 1965, No. 33349/65. Heading G4B. Data input apparatus for use in conjunction with an electronic computer or the like, has two data stores (e.g. a pin carrier and a contact matrix set up thereby), two sign stores (e.g. plus and minus keys with associated mechanism) and two instruction stores (e.g. function keys with associated mechanism, and a set of contacts actuated thereby). A first number is entered manually on digit keys and set up in the pin carriage in known manner. The sign and function keys are then depressed and the start key actuated; this causes the transfer of the pin carriage setting to the contact matrix and a signal is sent to the computer. A second number can now be entered and sign and function keys depressed while the settings of the contact matrix and the first sign and function keys are transmitted to the computer. The second number and key settings are transmitted subsequently in a similar manner. Details of the keyboard mechanism and circuitcontrolling arrangements are described and illustrated.
