A disc mill comprises annular grinding elements 3,3' and 3" of carborundum mounted on metal base members 1, 8 having cavities 2, 9 for the passage of a cooling agent. The grinding elements may be of different coarseness. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the grinding elements are arranged spirally.
