Abstract

Fully N-substituted ethinylamines, 2-hydro-carbylethinylamines and ethinylenediamines are made by adding halogen (e.g. Br2) to the corresponding ethylenic compounds, followed by elimination of hydrogen halide from the dihalide intermediates by use of strong bases, e.g. Me3COK/Me3COH complex or LiNMe2. Examples describe the preparation of PhC­ CNEt2 and Me3CC­CNMe2.
