Abstract
1,091,385. Xylophone. M. KOSUGE. Sept. 21, 1966 [May 2, 1966], No. 42096/66. Heading G5J. Hammer 30 strikes, in turn, each of the xylophone elements 14 mounted on a revolving hollow disc 10 to produce a predetermined melody. The elements are mounted above and across a groove 11, on the upper surface of the disc, forming the opening of a sounding chamber. The serrated edge of cylinder 12 causes the hammer head to rise and fall on to the xylophone elements. In various embodiments the disc can be caused to revolve by rollers (21, in Fig. 2, not shown) of elastic material driven by a motor in the base, a hand crank (33 in Fig. 5, not shown), or a quick screw thread as in a humming top (43 in Fig. 7, not shown).
