Abstract

1,091,067. Control of A.C. motors. ZAVODY PRESNEHO STROJIRENSTVI GOTTWALDOV NARODNI PODNIK. April 4, 1966 [April 23, 1965], No. 14798/66. Heading H2J. An asynchronous motor M1, which drives the clamp of a machine tool, is de-energized when the clamping force reaches a predetermined value, a control circuit which comprises a relay B1 for disconnecting the motor being connected by way of transformer T1 in one supply conductor of the motor. The clamping operation is started by actuating a push-button to close contactor S1, the motor current rising to an nitial peak after which it is stabilized at a steady value. At time t1 the current increases slightly, a relay being timed to respond at this instant so that, at time t2, a contact 1B3 connects capacitor C1 through rectifier U1 across the whole of potentiometer R1. If the current exceeds the value I 0 , discharge tube X1 breaks down to energize relay B1 and disconnect the motor. If the current remains below the value I 0 , contact 1B4 is closed at time t3 to shortcircuit a pre-set portion of potentiometer R1 As soon as the chucks of the clamp engage the workpiece, the motor current rises to the value I 1 at time t4 and relay B1 is energized to disconnect the motor. The workpiece is released by actuating a push-button to energize contactor S2 for reverse drive, the motor being stopped when the push-button is released. Signal lamps may be provided.
