Abstract

1,091,053. Rollers. MASCHINENFABRIK WINKLER, FALLERT & CO., A.G. May 20, 1966 [May 20, 1965], No. 22557/66. Heading F2U. Cooling or heating of a roll 1 is effected by fluid circulated by a power driven impeller pump 15 mounted within a by-pass tube 7 supported within the roll 1, cooling or heated fluid, e.g. hot water being supplied at one end 4 and exhausted at the other end through ducts 16, 5, 18., or the roll 1 may be provided with electric heating, as is also the case in Fig. 2 (not shown) in which the fluid is sealed within the roll and heated electrically by elements (28). In the sealed roll in Fig. 2 a metal or plastics bellows (25) or compensation vessel (not shown) absorbs expansion of the heating fluid.
