[Also in Division G1] In a system for detecting the formation of ice (see Division G1) reduction of the pulse rate from a Geiger counter 16, Fig. 3, due to ice formation causes the valve 21 to conduct, energizing the relay 22 and opening the contacts 23. This de-energizes relays 30 and 36 which energize the heater 11 for removing the ice and a warning lamp respectively. When the ice is reduced to a preset thickness, 22 is de-energized and 30 and 31 are energized after periods governed by delays 28, 29; 34, 35 respectively. Ice formation then recommences and so long as moderate icing conditions exist the warning lamp 26 will blink. The delay in the lamp circuit is made greater than that in the heater circuit so that under extreme icing conditions relay 22 will be reenergized before 36 is re-energized and the warning lamp will be permanently lit.
