Abstract
1,086,998. Batching biscuits. FORGROVE MACHINERY CO. Ltd. Aug. 17, 1966 [Sept. 21, 1965], No. 40246/65. Heading B8C. In an apparatus for removing a batch from the head of a column of biscuits (18) (Fig. 1, not shown) fed against a biscuit relief plate (19), the length of each batch is checked by a detector (25), which adjusts the plate (19) prior to removal of the next batch from the column, to compensate for any deviation from a predetermined standard length. As described, the biscuit relief plate (19) is adjusted forwards or backwards by a servomotor (21) upon the actuation of a switch (83) or (84), switches (S 1 , S 2 ) limiting the movement of the plate (19). If the length of biscuits is below a predetermined minimum, a switch (S 5 ) is actuated to cause a cross-pusher (23) to eject the batch from the conveyer pocket. In addition a weigher may also be used to adjust the position of the plate (19) to compensate for weight variations. Suitable circuitry (Fig. 2, not shown) for the apparatus is described.
