Abstract

In an exchange comprising 100 incoming junctions ij and 1000 outgoing junctions OJ forming 20 groups B1 . . . B20 leading in different directions, the outlets of the incoming selectors 1GS are connected to the outgoing selectors 2GS over 200 links L arranged in ten groups A1 . . . A10. The incoming junctions are in two groups characterized by different potentials, and are served by registers R1 . . . R30 which are associable with the selectors 1GS over switches JC. The groups of links A1 . . . A10, and also the groups of outgoing junctions B1 . . . B20 are characterized by different A.C. phases. When a call is received, a register is seized and the prefix of the wanted number is stored and translated into the appropriate phase, which is transferred to mark one of 20 leads in a common control circuit, Fig. 3 (not shown). At the same time the identity of the incoming junction is supplied to the control circuit. The latter comprises a matrix of 200 gates which are governed by the information provided by the register and also by the condition of the links L to enable the register to control the selectors by phasecomparison to extend the call over an idle link giving access to an idle junction in the required direction. The condition of the links and junctions is dependent on relays such as Gr1, Hr1.
