Abstract

108,440. Normand, L. J. A. Augustin-. April 10, 1917. Riding-saddles; stirrup straps and suspenders; harnessing systems.-Relates to mounting saddles, particularly race-horse saddles, which permit the girth to be dispensed with. The saddle is held on the withers of the horse by brace straps 2, 3 terminating in two rings of supple leather 4, 5 passing round each of the forelegs. The free parts of the braces may be crossed on the withers and continued on the other side of the horse, and carry the stirrups 9, 10 as shown in Fig. 2. Or the braces may be connected together and joined to a strap 17 connected to the crupper strap 11, as shown in Fig. 4, the stirrup straps being joined to the connecting strap 17. The saddle can be formed with a middle portion 15, Fig. 3, of strong leather or india-rubber, to which the braces are hooked.
