Abstract
1,084,259. Packaging; endless conveyer belts. KLIKLOK CORPORATION. May 3, 1966 [June 7, 1965], No. 19363/66. Headings B8A and B8C. A device for transferring articles from a stationary plate 17 to a container comprises a platform 18 on to which the articles S 1 are fed and a retainer finger 43 which clamps the articles to,the platform .and in which the platform and finger move together to the containers where the platform is withdrawn from under the finger, the platform and finger moving through the return stroke successively. The articles, e.g. fish fingers, are fed by a conveyer 15 along parallel channels on to the plate 17 where they are pushed on to the platform 18 by the following articles. A stop 20 in each channel is tilted by the articles allowing light to reach a photocell 23 when all the stops are tilted so that the transfer may commence. The transfer elements and stops are mounted on arms controlled by cams on a shaft 40, the drive of which is activated by the cell 23. At the first phase of the cycle the fingers are lowered on to the articles. Upon further rotation of the shaft, the stops 20 are withdrawn, Fig. 3 (not shown), and the platform and fingers moved together.to the. containers, the; platform 18. then being tilted, and withdrawn from under the fingers and returned to its initial position, Figs. 4-7 (not shown). The articles fall into the containers conveyed by an intermittently moving: conveyer (103), Fig. 11 (not shown), and the fingers are withdrawn. A switch cam 51 on the shaft 40 limits the movement of the shaft to one revolution unless all the stops are tilted by the succeeding articles. In the preferred embodiment, each loading station comprises six parallel channels subdivided into a group of four and a group of two; to allow optional loading of short boxes, by blanking off of two channels. Two layers are placed in eachbox, Fig. 11 (not shown). Conveyers.-The conveyer 15 which feeds the articles comprises parallel rods 59 with each end 60 bent forward and looped about the previous rod.
