Abstract

1,083,574. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. BRISTOL SIDDELEY ENGINES Ltd. March 26, 1964 [March 29, 1963], No. 12673/63. Heading G3P. [Also in Division F4] In an aircraft air conditioning system (see Division F4) recirculated air is passed through a duct 15 by a compressor 18 which is powered by a turbine driven by vitiated air being discharged to atmosphere. At times when the compressor does not receive sufficient power to move air through the duct 15 against cabin pressure, a valve 66 is closed and air is recirculated through a duct 48. Chambers 53 and 55 on either side of a diaphragm 54 are subject to pressures at points 52 and 55a in the ducts 48 and 15 respectively, and when the compressor raises the pressure at 52 above that at 55a the diaphragm moves a valve 56 to the right thus admitting pressurized air from a line 38 to a chamber 62 to commence movement of a piston 64 to open the valve 66 and close a valve 51 in the recirculation duct 48. Closing of the valve 51 further raises the pressure at 52 to increase the rate of closure of the valve 66. The valve 56 may be replaced by a piston type valve, Fig. 3 (not shown).
