Abstract

1,083,374. Windscreen wipers. MOTOROLA Inc. Feb. 1, 1966, No. 4404/66. Heading A4F. [Also in Division H2] Closure of switch 18 renders transistor 25 conductive thereby firing rectifier 3 to energize motor 10 which drives a windscreen wiper. A switch-arm 17 is driven by the motor and is adapted to engage contact 15 to turn off the rectifier, the motor circuit being maintained through switch 16 for the remainder of the wiper cycle, the switch returning to an open position at a predetermined point in the path of traverse of the wiper blade. The interval between wiper cycles is regulated by capacitor 42 which is charged when arm 17 engages contact 15 to render transistor 25 non-conductive. The transistor becomes conductive to initiate a new cycle of operations when the capacitor has discharged through variable resistor 40.
