Abstract

1,082,063. Scraping pig carcasses. H. E. FREDERIKSEN. Feb. 9, 1965 [Feb. 10, 1964 (2)], No. 5560/65. Heading A2U. Apparatus for scraping pig carcasses 2 suspended by their legs from conveyer 1, comprises rotating brushes 5-9, 11, 12, whose axes of rotation are parallel to conveyer 1 and which are mounted at various distances from vertical plane 10 and are pivotable at right angles to plane 10. Each brush may comprise a number of hub portions each comprising a number of plastic segments 25 which carry radial plastic spikes. 26 which are curved at their ends such that they are pointing in the direction of rotation of the brushes. The adjacent hub portions are interconnected by engaging ribs 33 and grooves 32 and may be provided with passages (40) (Fig. 8, not shown) to allow water to be passed. The apparatus may comprise two sections containning rotating brushes, between which is disposed means for rotating the carcasses through 180 degrees. The apparatus may have means for adjusting the position of the brushes in relation to the pig size, and means for keeping the carcass at a predetermined distance from the axes of the brushes.
