Abstract

Compositions consist of 55 to 70% of polypropylene or polyethylene, 10 to 15% polyoxymethylene, and 20 to 30% of magnesium oxide or hydroxide. The oxide may be in the form of calcined magnesia. The compositions have a response equivalent to that of organic tissues with respect to b , g and X radiations and fast neutrons, and may accordingly be used in radiation detectors.
