Abstract
The efficiency of a strongly-acid cationexchanger on the hydrogen cycle used to treat water containing sodium ions is measured by adjusting the pH of the treated water to at least 4 and measuring the sodium ion concentration by means of an alkali metal sensitive glass electrode. A part-burnt dolomite filter may be used for the pH adjustment. The exchanger may be regenerated or exchanged for another by automatic means responsive to the sodium-ion measurement.
