Endless - chain conveyers with linked carriers; carriers, attaching to chains; discharging- devices; guiding endless chains and carriers.-The carriers of a conveyer, particularly adapted for use in dough-proving apparatus, are attached to the driving-chain by swivel pins perpendicular to the chain. The carriers traverse a zigzag or spiral course within a sectional casing, and are discharged at an elevated looped portion of the track. They are formed of pegs inserted In base-plates, and may have a fabric lining. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the apparatus, Fig. 5 a plan with the upper structure removed, and Fig. 8 a detail. The conveyer is partially enclosed in a casing 1 which is preferably formed in two separable portions 2, 3 to facilitate erection. The conveyer chain 14 is guided in a spiral path around superposed chain whetels 15, the chain passing in one direction along a groove between flat guide-rails 4 and in the other direction along inclined guide-rails 5. The chain enters through the top of the front casing 2, and after passing in a spiral path to the bottom of this casing is led to the rear casing 3 through which it rises in a spiral path, emerging through the cover. Thence it rises on an incline; is led along a horizontal guide 23 to the front of the apparatus, and along a concave guide 26 in a vertical plane, back into the casing. The bottom plate 7, Fig. 8, of the containers slides on the rails 4, 5 and has a depending pin, screw, &c., forming a swivel connexion to the chain 14. The sides of the container may be formed of pegs 8 with or without a fabric lining. One or more of the sprocket-wheel shafts, for example, the shaft 28, Fig. 3, may be driven. The containers are discharged by inversion as they pass round the shaft 28, and the fall of the material is controlled by a flexible band 30 which may be free or driven, and may have the lower roller 33 arranged as shown, or supported in a frame swinging freely about the axis of the upper roller 32. A dough-moulder, such as described in Specification 11724/14, may be arranged to feed the dough through an opening in the top of the casing 1, as described in Specification 108,034.
