Abstract

Articles mounted on a conveyer are moved through a bath of liquid coating material for coating by electrophoresis providing that the resistance measured between successive articles on the conveyer is above a preselected value. If this value is not achieved a relay is operated to indicate the situation and to stop the conveyer. Provision is also made to adjust the length of path over which coating current is applied to the article by means of a timing mechanism operated by the conveyer movement. The coating material may be anodically or cathodically deposited resin-based paints and the bath is provided with a stirrer.
