Abstract

1,076,119. Making screens; welding by pressure. KLÍCKNER-HUMBOLDT-DEUTZ A.G. Dec. 2, 1964 [Feb. 22, 1964], No. 48978/64. Headings B3A and B3R. [Also in Division B1] A centrifugal separator drum incorporates a screen deck consisting of screen rods 1 of triangular or trapezoidal section which are connected together and spaced by transverse strips 3, the strips 3 being on the sides of the rods which face radially inwards of the drum. The screen deck illustrated is produced by pressure resistance welding of rods 1 and strips 3 on a flat surface, and sections of the resulting screen are subsequently bent by hand to the desired curvature to fit in a supporting drum basket. The spacing of rods 1 may vary longitudinally to match a frusto-conical basket, such a screen being made using different spacing combs for each strip 3 or by using different comb-like electrodes for welding successive strips 3.
