Abstract
1,076,005. Seaming non-metallic sheet material. DRUCKMASCHINENWERKE LEIPZIG VEB. July 14, 1965, No. 29877/65. Heading B5K. Apparatus for continuously producing bags from a web of weldable material comprising a blade 13 to simultaneously cut and weld the web transversely which blade moves in a circular path and, during the cutting and welding operation, moves with speed of the web, is characterized in that the blade 13 is driven from a wheel 1 through a universal joint gearing. The wheel 1 is connected to the drive for the web of weldable material and rotates 1¢ turns for each bag section. A shaft 2 is secured to the wheel 1 and carries a universal joint 3 secured to a telescopic shaft 4 to which a second universal joint 5 is secured to transmit the rotation of the wheel 1 to a shaft 6 and to bevel gears 7, 8. The joints 3, 5 are offset through 90 degrees in relation to one another. The gear 8 slides on and rotates a multi-splined shaft 9 which transmits motion through bevel gears 10, 11 to a shaft 12 on which the blade 13 is mounted. Slip rings 14 for the heating of the blade and possible temperature measurements are provided. The gearing 3, 4, 5, 6 can be pivoted together with a housing 15 by suitable means (not shown) through an angle α variable from 0-45 degrees. The transmission ratio of the bevel gears is 1 : 2.
