Abstract

1,074,630. Vibratory feeding devices. JOHNSON, MATTHEY & CO. Ltd. Oct. 14, 1964 [Oct. 14, 1963], No. 40398/63. Heading B8A. Apparatus for feeding articles to a machine, e.g. short wires or rods forming rivet or contact blanks to a heading machine, comprises a vibratory feeding device in the form of a circular receptacle 8, Fig. 1, having an internal helical guideway 11 extending from the floor 8a of the receptacle to an outlet 8d leading to the machine (not shown), the receptacle 8 being supplied from a hopper 9 having a lateral outlet opening 12, Fig. 3, provided with a hinged closing flap 13 the position of which is determined by the difference in pressure between that of the articles inside the hopper exerted on the inside of the flap and that of the articles circulating in the receptacle 8 exerted on the outside of the flap. The receptacle 8 is mounted by means of resilient strips 6 on a base 1 which supports a block 3 carrying an electromagnet 4 and which has extending upwardly therefrom standards 2 carrying the hopper 9. The flap 13 may be made of light metal, rubber or synthetic plastic material.
